FAQs for Online Counseling and Therapy
Online therapy involves meeting your psychologist or counselor online, instead of meeting them in person in their office. You can connect with them on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Online therapy can help you cope with any mental health difficulty, unhelpful habit pattern or tendency or a specific issue, such as anxiety, insomnia, stress, depression or even relationship difficulties from the comfort of your home.
We have found it to be effective and have facilitated thousands of sessions online with various therapists over years. However, just as in face-to-face therapy, the effectiveness of online therapy also depends on regularity of the sessions and following through with the practices and recommendations provided by the therapist.
Our therapeutic approach is fundamentally holistic. In addition to helping their clients address their present mental health concerns, our therapists also strive to provide their clients with insights and coping strategies that will help them with future difficulties. Our intention is that our clients become emotionally resilient and over time need less therapy; that they are able to find joy and meaning in their lives and cope with the stresses that are an inevitable part of life. In order to provide such wholesome therapy we use an eclectic approach that is customized to what an individual client needs. Our core approaches are client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based therapy and somatic psychotherapy.
All our therapists are qualified psychologists with a post graduate degree in clinical or counseling psychology. We do not hire people with diplomas or short-term training courses. They are all personally interviewed and hired by our founder Sadia Saeed who is a trained clinical psychologist and has been practicing for over 23 years. She not only ensures their qualification but also verifies their therapeutic approach. We believe it is very important that our therapists come from a supportive and exploratory therapeutic approach rather than an advisory one.
If you are feeling uneasy about anything over a period of time, it is always recommended that you speak to a qualified mental health professional. It could be that you are feeling demotivated, stressed, worried, anxious or depressed. It could also be that you are dealing with a challenging relationship. Therapy is also helpful when dealing with physical health issues like chronic pain and other stress related illnesses that may have underlying psychological reasons. Therapy can often provide a perspective. It can support you in changing unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour and embracing healthier ways of being. It can also provide emotional support in times when you are unable to deal with a difficult emotion.
Online therapy, specifically connecting to a therapist via video conferencing or even phone, can be appropriate and effective in many cases. There are numerous advantages of opting for online therapy and counseling;
Accessibility: if you’re in a remote part of the world or traveling, online therapy may widen the scope of therapists available to you. Even though you’re not meeting face-to-face, a virtual session can replicate the experience.
Convenience: Time saved commuting to a therapist’s office is a major perk for people leaning toward online counseling. For many people, online therapy may better fit into their schedules while they juggle professional and caregiver responsibilities.
The cost of online therapy varies and usually depends on the experience of the therapist working with you.
