Child Archetype

DISCOVERING ARCHETYPES – DAY 4: THE CHILD ARCHETYPE

We have all observed a seventy year old behaving like a child, throwing tantrums or hiding from their caretakers; we have experienced the occasional urge to engage in impulsive shopping and our tendency to sulk and to expect others to console us; these are all the expressions of the child archetype in us. Through this article, we wish to encourage you to reflect upon the ways in which the child in you finds its expression.

Explorer Archetype

DISCOVERING ARCHETYPES – DAY 3: THE EXPLORER ARCHETYPE

Each one of us, at some point in our lives, have struggled to discover our own uniqueness, questioned social obligations, taken risks, set out to explore the unknown and felt the urge to try something new. It is the explorer archetype present in us, that enables us to do this. Also known as the seeker, wanderer and pilgrim, the explorer is a character that seeks to escape the boundaries of their average life by traveling the world or discovering its many mysteries.

SHADOW ARCHETYPE

DISCOVERING ARCHETYPES – DAY 2: THE SHADOW ARCHETYPE

The shadow is that aspect of our personality or psyche that is hidden from our own selves. It lies in our unconscious mind, safely beyond our awareness. The shadow contains our weaknesses, undesired traits, repressed ideas and desires which we find difficult to accept as part of us. It is like our dark side – therefore the name, Shadow. It is often unexpressed and rejected but surely it is always there, just as other archetypes are.

Discovering Archetypes – Day 1: The Persona

The persona refers to the social mask you wear in public. It is the part of your conscious self that you present to the outside world; it is the image you wish to present to others. The persona includes your social roles, and it can be seen as a kind of ‘psychological clothing’ that you wear. However, identifying too strongly with a specific persona can limit your growth in many ways.

Archetypes

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 2015 – “DISCOVERING ARCHETYPES”

This year, we have been feeling a bit mystical and so we are going to be talking about “Discovering Archetypes”! We thought it would be fun if we could take you a bit deeper into the recesses of the human psyche and explore its mystery. We hope that this sneak-peek into the remote, unexplored parts of your mind will help you discover how these sides present themselves in the world around us and most importantly, within ourselves.

Porn and Intimacy

COULD PORN HELP BUILD SEXUAL INTIMACY IN A RELATIONSHIP?

Conventional knowledge tells us that pornography is bad, damaging our psyches and ruining our relationships. However,
watching porn does not necessarily have to ruin your sex life; it can also turn your sex life around, in an adventurous way. Porn can at times, serve to stimulate desire and serve as a release for physical and emotional needs.

social anxiety

Coping With Social Anxiety: The Fear Of Being Judged

Those who have social anxiety fear social situations. This fear could be felt in all social situations or it could be about a specific kind of social situation: public speaking, going to parties, attending meetings, talking to classmates or colleagues, making phone calls, eating in public, buying something from a store, etc. The anxiety experienced in these social situations is strongly connected to the fear of being judged negatively by others.

FOMO

The Fear Of Missing Out: Am I Doing Enough?

Think about the guy who checks his facebook, twitter and instagram accounts countless times in a day, to remain “updated”; or the girl who attends 3 parties on a Saturday night so that she doesn’t miss out on the awesome time that everyone else will have.
Today, a lot of people find themselves flitting from one event to the other, picking one novel opportunity after the other, not wanting to miss out on anything.

Burnout is a sign for change

BURNOUT: HOW DO YOU KNOW IF IT IS HAPPENING TO YOU?

Do you feel like you have no energy left to deal with the stresses of your job? Or, for that matter, your life? That you just ‘can’t take this anymore’? If you do, you are probably experiencing burnout.
At times, burnout goes unnoticed for long or gets addressed very late. By the time, the fatigue and distress the person experiences take a toll. How do you know if you are going through this?

Staring at the sun

DEATH ANXIETY: A SILENT FRIEND

Death Anxiety is not simply anxiety about dying but anxiety about not living meaningfully. Culturally, we are averse to talking of death. However, awareness of one’s finite time on this planet in this form is probably one of the most important factors for living meaningfully. What “living well” means is unique to you but it requires some deep exploration from your end.
